Horsepower to Watts Calculator
Calculate the electrical wattage required to produce a specific horsepower.
How HP to Watts works
To figure out how much electrical power an electric motor draws, you need to convert its mechanical horsepower rating to watts.
By multiplying the horsepower by 745.7, you can find the electrical equivalent. Note that real-world electric motors are not 100% efficient, so they will draw more watts from the wall than they output in mechanical power.
Formula
1
Watts = HP × 745.71 Mechanical HP = 745.699872 W.
